Yesterday, my big sister came to visit with her big dog, Little Girl, and before bringing her in told my sisters and me to put our animals into our rooms and close the doors. I took care of my black cat and the beagle, and let my sister and her friend and the dog inside. I didn't know, though, that my mom's cat was out and about, and before anyone knew it, the poor cat's head was in the pit bull's mouth and blood was splattered all over the wall. My little sister was bawling as three of us flung our bodies onto the dog. My big sister was finally able to pry open the dog's jaw and the cat scuttled underneath my parents' bed, mouth agate. My sister took her dog to her friend and had her drive the dog away. Then we heaved up my mom's bed and retrieved the cat, whose mouth was still open. I jumped into my sister's car and we rushed to the vet. We called my mom and caught her up. When we returned home, I smelled like beat up cat, so my black cat hissed and attacked me when I tried to hold her. I went to take a shower to wash the smell off, but when I turned off the water to reach for my towel, the glass shower door shattered and the top of it came down and chopped into my wrist and the bottoms of my feet got cut up. I was terrified and screamed at the top of my lungs, and my mom came and had to help me out and rush me up to the clinic. I got two stitches in my arm, but luckily I had no glass stuck in my cuts.
Today, we learned from the x-rays that the cat was not okay. Her jaw was shattered on both sides, so much so that her jaw was disconnected and was dangling, preventing her from eating or drinking. My mom took my sister and the cat up to the vet again to put her to sleep while the rest of us stayed home and cried until our faces were soaked and our heads ached. My body is sore from the stress of the shower door breaking and my head is still soar from crying over Gretel. The saddest part is knowing that my mom won't be able to read in her room with Gretel lying over her lap. I'll get over it, but it will take a while.
Gretel was an eleven year old Siamese cat who never failed to bring comfort to my exhausted mother. May she rest in peace next to her long deceased brother next to the avacado tree. Sorry for sharing such a tragety.

"Long separated by cruel fate, the star-crossed lovers raced across the grassy field toward each other like two freight trains, one having left Cleveland at 6:36 p.m. traveling at 55 mph, the other from Topeka at 4:19 p.m. at a speed of 35 mph."
My dad wanted to get a move on so we could get back before night. Everyone went to go look at the gravesite, but he didn't want to wait. Actually, I'm getting prepared to go to grandma's right now, and help her clean up and stuff.
